Entry Level Technical Diving Paths: IDF vs. TDI
Take your diving beyond recreational limits with our industry-leading technical training programs. Whether you want an integrated all-in-one decompression course or a modular approach to technical diving, we offer world-class training under both IDF and TDI standards.
IDF Advanced Nitrox Diver
The Direct Path to Deep Decompression
If you already have a solid twinset or sidemount foundation and are ready for full decompression diving, the IDF Advanced Nitrox course is an integrated technical program that takes you straight into deep decompression planning and execution.
- Best For: Divers with strong foundational skills looking for a single, comprehensive entry into staged decompression.
- Max Depth: 50 meters / 165 feet
- Gas Limits: Air / Nitrox bottom gas + up to 100% O₂ for accelerated decompression
- Course Dives: Minimum 6 open water dives
Prerequisites
- Minimum 18 years old
- IDF Master Fundamentals (4 Course Dives) or IDF Master Deep Diver (6 Course Dives) or equivalent
- IDF Twinset Diver (4 Course Dives) or IDF Multistage Sidemount (4 Course Dives) qualification
TDI Advanced Nitrox & Decompression Procedures
The Modular Technical Standard
TDI’s world-renowned entry-level tech program is broken into two distinct modules that can be taken back-to-back or as individual steps.
Module A: TDI Advanced Nitrox (AN)
Focuses on advanced gas management, high-oxygen mixtures, and optimizing non-decompression profiles.
- Max Depth: 40 meters / 130 feet
- Gas Limits: EAN21 to 100% Oxygen (No-decompression limits)
- Course Dives: Minimum 4 open water dives
Module B: TDI Decompression Procedures (DP)
Introduces formal staged decompression diving, contingency planning, and accelerated deco operations.
- Max Depth: 45 meters / 150 feet
- Gas Limits: Air / Nitrox bottom gas + up to 100% O₂ deco gas
- Course Dives: Minimum 4 open water dives (6 dives total when combined with AN)
Prerequisites
- Minimum 18 years old
- Advanced Open Water Diver & Entry-Level Nitrox certified
- Minimum 25 logged open water dives
